Sheehy Toyota Spreads the Disney Magic

You’re going to Disney!! The Lindh family gets the surprise of a lifetime.

Lt. Col. Tony Lindh and his wife Christina have a combined 23 years of active service and are the proud parents on 5-year old Penelope and 4-year old Tripp! Between the two of them they’ve been deployed three times and once even together which they say brought them even closer. While those deployments were tough, nothing is as hard as what they’re going through now. Last year they were blindsided when Tripp was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Their lives went from going to play dates, preschool, family events and more to spending days on end in the hospital while Tripp fights to get better. Not only is Tripp’s illness hard for him and his parents but it’s also hard for his big sister Penelope. She misses her brother and just wants to spend time with him more. Lt. Col. Tony and Christina are always trying to get the family to do as much as possible together when Tripp’s not receiving outpatient care at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. They see how happy it makes Tripp and Penelope and love seeing big smiles on their faces.

A lot of these experiences come through the USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore. They’ve been able to meet Miss America 2018 and attend a Nationals Game where they even got to meet some of their favorite players! Through it all Lt. Col. Tony and Christina have been so strong. We’re in awe of how positive they continue to be and how hard they work to give both their children amazing experiences together.

We’re also so happy that the USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore is able to provide the Lindh family these amazing experiences and wanted to do our part to help not only the Lindh family, but the USO as well. Which is why we and Sheehy Toyota of Fredericksburg came together (with the help of the WUSA Impact team) to surprise the Lindh family with a trip to Disney world! And we didn’t stop there, we also donated $30,000 to the USO’s Salute the Troops Orlando program in honor of the Lindh family. With this donation, now a plane full of military families dealing with life threatening illnesses will get the chance to go to Disney World next year! Scroll down to see the surprise in action and see some behind the scenes photos.
